Why is everyone a ‘Fighter’?

 In Blog

I recently heard a quote that has been engrained in my mind lately. It reminded me of why we enjoy what we do, by ‘we’, I mean myself and the great coaches at Team M.A.D.

Carlos Casteneda said ‘ To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We made ourselves into one or the other.’

What an amazing statement. Are you a warrior or average?..

I think personally we are all warriors in a way, Even if its not in combat. Most of life is a fight, a fight to achieve your goals, a fight to be exceptional at everything you do, a fight to be better than average. The endless struggle Carlos Casteneda mentioned is everywhere and most people have some sort of struggle, in this struggle is where you will see that you are a Warrior.

A friend, mentor and Coach, Matt Lindland once said to us one day. ‘Everyone is a fighter, even kids. They all have to struggle with something. Waking up early sometimes day is a fight, getting a promotion at work, even starting training’. He is right. Embrace your struggle.

So why does this relate to what we do and Martial Arts or Martial Arts Development?

Well at Martial Arts Development, we create the struggle when training you. We teach new skills, push you physically, expand your knowledge and help develop healthier habits.  These all at some stage will be a struggle.

All our members are Warriors and not average. We love pushing them because that struggle is how the warrior is created.

So whenever you train, remember that the struggle you hopefully feel is meaning you are working at being greater than average. To all our members keep up the great work being warriors!
